A tuner that knows your instrument
Not just six strings and a shrug. Guitar in DADGAD, a five-string bass in drop A, a baritone ukulele, a viola, a mandola — pick the instrument and tuning, and the gnome listens for exactly those strings. A chromatic Any Note mode covers everything else.
Sixty tunings, five families
Every tuning below ships in the app. Pick one, pluck, and Auto snaps to the string you meant — land it dead-on and the trace and center line glow.

- Chromatic “Any Note” mode
Tune to 440. Or to 1859.
The tuner and the pitch library are one instrument — pick a reference and all sixty tunings re-target their strings to match.
- The modern standards — A=440 and the brighter 442–445 range the big European orchestras prefer.
- The historical ones — Baroque A=415, Verdi's A=432, the French Diapason Normal of 1859. The library tells you who tuned that way, and when.
- One tap away — the reference pitch lives right in the tuner, not three menus deep.
Tuner FAQ
Does it tune violin, ukulele and bass — not just guitar?
Yes. Sixty tunings across guitar, bass, ukulele, the violin family and folk instruments, plus a chromatic Any Note mode for anything with a pitch.
Which alternate guitar tunings are included?
DADGAD, Drop D through Drop A, All Fourths, Open G, Open D, F♯ Relative Lute, requinto, baroque and romantic tunings, and 7- and 8-string layouts — fifteen guitar tunings in all.
Can I tune to something other than A=440?
Yes — besides standard A=440, sixteen historical and regional pitches are built in, each annotated with where it came from. See the historical reference pitches page.
Is my audio recorded or uploaded?
Never. Pitch detection runs entirely on your device; audio is analyzed in memory and immediately discarded. The microphone is only active while the tuner is open.
