What is compás?
Compás is flamenco's rhythmic cycle — the repeating pattern of strong and weak beats that defines each palo. A soleá runs a 12-beat cycle accented on 3, 6, 8, 10 and 12. Ordinary metronomes click even beats and leave you to imagine the rest; MetroGnome plays the full cycle.
Does the count start on 12 or on 1?
Whichever you learned. The convention genuinely varies by palo and by school, so each built-in palo ships with its usual convention — and a toggle flips it.
Can I change accents while it plays?
Yes — that's the whole point. Tap any beat in the ring to cycle its accent level, live, without the compás ever stopping.
Can I save my own compás?
Yes. Re-accent any palo and keep it, or build a multi-measure pattern — with rests, tempo changes and repeats — in the pattern editor, and it stays in your library forever.
